Steampunk Pirate Wedding
October 24, 2009. Aboard the Hawaiian Chieftain, on the San Francisco Bay.
Most. Awesome. Day. Ever.
No, seriously, everything went perfect. I mean, we were expecting some sort of hiccup or something, but nope. Perfect.
Weather was perfect.
Food, cake, music. All perfect.
From the taxi ride from the hotel (Thanks Archie!) to arriving at Pier 40 (the modern world is not kind to a man wearing a sword; it’s almost impossible to sit gracefully, especially in a cab) to set sail at 3:30.
JB from Fork & Spoon Designer Catering was on hand to manage the food and drink (and a gigantic round of applause to him for an amazing menu and brilliant execution; highly recommended) Chris from Petals was able to get aboard before hand and decorate with the most amazing flowers, then greeted the wedding party as we arrived to give Court her bouquet and I my boutineer.
Sour Mash Hug started playing and a wonderful, amazing time was had by all.
Everyone looked phenomenal (no more so than my soon-to-be bride); an unexpected bonus was the ship’s crew were in period costume also, which we didn’t plan but worked out very nicely.
My suit was perfect (I’m running out of superlatives), all hand made by Laurie Tavan owner and sole awesome corseter/seamstress/costumer of Daze of Laur. Heck, she mad me look so good she even put me on her site.
Even our cake was just brilliant, by I Dream of Cake, with a mechanical Kraken, Jules Verne airship and our favorite Robert Heinlein quote:
Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.
My bride was beautiful and I did look rather dashing if I do say so myself.
AND! There were cannons. Four of them.
Like I said; perfect.
We’ll be getting the professional photos from Rizzariz Photography in the next week or so (and judging by the pictures she put up on her blog, they will be absolutely amazing; thanks Rizz!) but until then here’s a sample of the day:
Court’s Flickr set of the day, pictures contributed by a whole bunch of different sources.
Mooflyfoof’s Flickr set of the day; all by her (and video of the freakin’ cannons going off)
Rizzariz Photo blog (no that’s not us at the top… scroll down)
Doctor Popular has a few pics here
I adore this picture; the sepia tone and composition make us look like a newlywed couple arriving at the New World,
after a long adventure at sea, looking to start a new life.
And I guess we are.
